Energetic funksters Funk Engine announce launch show for album #2

Funk Engine has build a rep as one of Sydney’s funnest and most energetic live jazz acts

Jazz-funk veterans (with a penchant for toking) Funk Engine are launching their sophomore album Taking A Ride in Sydney next month.

The event is going down at Venue 505 on Cleveland Street in town on Friday October 6 from 7pm. Entry is $15.

Since forming in 2013, Funk Engine have dropped a killer self-titled album and build a reputation as one of Sydney’s funnest and most energetic live jazz acts. Funk Engine is  Felix Lalanne (guitar), Nish Manjunath (sax), Holly Conner (drums), Nick Twiney (keys) and frontman Siebe Pogson (bass).

Taking a Ride also features guest horns from Nick Polovineo and Nick Calligeros as well as vox from local indigenous rapper DOBBY and singer Deiniol Chynoweth, who will perform the title track live with the band for the very first time. Buy the album here.

Joining Funk Engine for the night will be eight-piece funk group Pezcobar, DJ Meem (host of 2SER’s Back to Funk), and a solo set from Dobby.

Catch ya there!
