Patrick Stewart uses cannabis every day, backs medical cannabis study

The famed actor was prescribed cannabis two years ago

Sir Patrick Stewart has revealed he uses cannabis every day in an interview with News Corp UK.

The famed actor had been struggling with ortho-arthritis, and was prescribed cannabis in LA two years ago.

“I purchased an ointment, spray and edibles,” he said. “The ointment, while providing some relief from the discomfort, was too greasy to use during daytime and so I only use it at night. It helps with sleep as the pain was reduced.

“The spray, however, is much more usable and I spray my fingers and particularly my thumb joints several times a day.”

“I can make fists, which was not the case before I began this treatment.”

Stewart has now thrown his weight behind a £10 million Oxford University study into the benefits of medical marijuana, entitled the Cannabis Research Program.

This is an important step forward for Britain in a field of research that has, for too long, been held back by prejudice, fear and ignorance,” he said.
