On his final day in office (by the way, the Trump inauguration concert was literally just the real-life Idiocracy), Obama has commuted the sentences of 330 non-violent drug offenders.
“By restoring proportionality to unnecessarily long drug sentences, this administration has made a lasting impact on our criminal justice system,” said Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates in a statement.
The move means that Obama has commuted a total of 1,715 sentences.
America has long copped criticism for its fucked-up justice system, particularly when it comes to non-violent drug offenders.
Meanwhile, Obama is one of many US presidents to admit to having previously smoked dope – an offence that sees thousands incarcerated across the States every year.
