The launch episode of Viceland’s tokenistic weed show Weediquette did not go well in the TV ratings last night, with a metro audience of a mere 31,000.
And Weediquette was even the top-rating show on Viceland last night, which has seemingly bombed on its second night of existence. It had a 0.8% market share, compared with last Wednesday’s 1.3% on SBS 2… not great for the broadcaster when it was probably expecting an audience boost from its partnership with the commercial US media brand.
Tuesday night – the launch of the SBS Viceland channel – was slightly better for SBS, and delivered its best Tuesday night share in six weeks with 1.0%.
Weediquette sees presenter Krishna Andavolu exploring the world of weed and mingling with people who are heavy into the very new 21st century pot scene. He looks at the ethics of dope smoking and legalisation, and even spends time with those who say the drug has ruined their lives.
